This week on Ask Me Anything about Evernote we have a question from Mike.
If you have a question you’d love an answer to then leave it in the comments below and I’ll add it to the list.
Mike asks
There was an update some time ago that started showing the note list when I go to a note. How do I stop this and hide the note list?
I've been hanging onto this question for a few weeks as I knew something was brewing!
There was a change about a month or two ago... a little bit of history.
With Evernote Legacy (pre 2020) I believe that when you went to a note from shortcuts or note links then the note would open and the note list would reflect the notebook that note was in.
When version 10 of Evernote came out in 2020 things changed.
The note would just open on its own with no note list. Lots of folk moaned about it!
So, a few weeks ago there was an update to bring back that functionality, but quite a lot of folk had got used to the hidden note list and then moaned about it!
So, we now have the best of both worlds.
Make sure you're on version 10.144.3 for Mac and PC and you'll now see this little icon appear at the top left-hand corner of your note.
If you click this then the note list is hidden but the sidebar stays in view.
Foe anyone who’s not clicked the little icon to the right of this one, it will send the note full screen and hide the sidebar as well.
So, Mike, it’s not automatic but there is an option now to hide the note list when you view a note.
I hope that helps.
Have a great rest of the week
All the best
Jon
I have a notebook with about 2000 notes with a variety of overlapping tags. It is the complex relationships among the tags and notes that is central to the research project. I want to send the notebook to ChatGPT but the enex file is too large. ChatGPT suggests I split it into pieces. How can I do that?
