This week on Ask Me Anything about Evernote we have a question from Tony.
If you have a question you’d love an answer to then leave it in the comments below and I’ll add it to the list.
Tony asks
Is it possible to flag notes or add some sort of importance to them?
Yes. We can use tags to do this.
Tags are a way to label a note, add some extra information to one or many notes.
You can then view all the notes with a certain tag.
You can find your Tags in the sidebar, usually underneath Notebooks.
If you can't see tags in the sidebar, you may have hidden them at some point.
Head into Settings -> Sidebar
and you'll be able to show them.
You can also get to Tags on your phone and depending how you've set things up they will appear in either the bottom navigation window or the More menu.
Adding tags is simple. Hover over Tags in the sidebar of the desktop app or tap Tag on your phone and then the blue Add Tag button at the bottom right of the screen.
You can also add new tags when you're creating or editing a note.
Tags appear at the bottom of your note in desktop and at the top of a note when using the phone app.
What you call your tags is up to you. Here's a few suggestions:
In Progress - something currently being worked on.
Pending - blocked until someone/something else happens.
Review - needs checking, editing, or a second look.
Ready - Something that's ready to go.
On Hold - paused, not moving forward yet.
Completed - finished tasks or something has ended.
Someday - ideas or tasks to revisit in the future.
The list is endless, pick the status that means something to you.
Whenever you want to find al the notes for with a particular tag then just click the tag in the sidebar on the desktop app or view the tags screen on mobile and tap the tag.
If you find yourself looking at a tag a lot it may be easier to add the tag to your Evernote shortcuts.
Your tag will appear with all your other Evernote shortcuts on all the apps.
I hope that helps.
I know we have some taggers in the TTT community so feel free to leave comments and tips below.
Have a great rest of the week
All the best
Jon
Another option. In a notebook, open the note of interest, click on the Add Reminder icon and choose No date. Then in the Notes list, click on the Reminders icon (bell) - this will filter to only notes with reminders. A bit like shortcuts for a particular notebook
Hi JON
I use many tables with a certain background color, font, etc. in dark mode. When I am modifying these tables I must reconfigure the lines or columns that I added so that they do not clash with the table. Is there the option to Copy and Paste Format?, like other applications on the market.
