AMA 51: Do you keep your personal and work notes in the same account?
A huge thank you to all paid subscribers and many thanks also to those who bought me a coffee. Taming the Trunk is 100% reader supported, no ads or commission links and your support is really appreciated.
This week on Ask Me Anything about Evernote we have a question from Carl.
If you have a question you’d love an answer to then leave it in the comments below and I’ll add it to the list.
Carl asks
Do you keep your personal and work notes in the same account?
I do. But I know some folk who don’t.
I think it depends on the size of your business and also how you want to organise things.
My work is only me, I work for myself and most of what I do is run training courses. There’s also a consultation side to my work but generally speaking I don’t generate a massive amount of notes or ‘paperwork’.
For me having business and personal in one account makes sense.
Only I have access to my Evernote, I don’t have staff so one account is enough.
Others I’ve spoken to like to keep things totally separate.
I know a number of folk who have two Evernote professional accounts, one for business and the other for personal.
If you want to work this way then you can add up to five accounts to an Evernote app.
Behind your name and avatar in the desktop and mobile apps you can add extra accounts.
As long as you have one paid account you can add up to five of free or paid Evernotes.
Switching between accounts is pretty quick. The app syncs, closes, reopens the other account and then syncs.
I have the demo account attached to all my apps and things switch very quickly.
I also share a couple of spaces between my main account and demo account so I can access information whichever one I’m logged into.
If you want to keep things in one main account, then think about setting up a space to keep things separate.
I have a personal space.
This space is a collection of different notebooks from different areas of my Evernote all bought into one space.
Visually, it helps me organise things a little easier.
I hope that helps Carl.
I’d love to hear how others manage work and personal accounts in Evernote. Leave me a comment.
Have a great rest of the week
All the best
Jon
