Neat idea! I might think of doing it "the other way round", i.e. a kist if the books and magazines on my shelf that I've got to sit down and read (or listen to if they're audiobooks)...
This is a nice reminder to keep things simple. I'd ended up with a stack of nested notebooks of books I wanted to read and books already on my (ever-growing) reading pile. I've just replaced the whole edifice with 3 notes tagged "Books" in my default notebook. Now I guess I should log off and start reading.
I used Goggle "Keep" with a very simple book list.
I like your idea more so will try it.

Very useful to have the list offline on the phone as my local Oxfam has zero phone signal! (Rural Shropshire here!)
GKeep does that... and just as importantly, allows you to create and edit offline.
It has a word limit, but high enough to clear easily ten minutes of typing time

Nice ideas on the reading list...
And clearly, links to the author are nice... on the list. You must hand manage the 'want to read list, but not yet bought.
"The final piece of the magic is to make the note "offline" on my phone." - excellent tips for other lists too.
Now 'we' need one for the read books with links to authors and the book note(s) : ))))
I keep a list of books I've read each year which is fun to look through at the end of a year and worry why I haven't read that much :)
