Newsletter housekeeping: The latest version for PC & Mac is 10.126.5. You can grab it from the download page. Latest mobile version is 10.126.1.
Many thanks to a couple of Anons who supported Taming the Trunk over the last week, its much appreciated. If you find this article useful and have it in your pocket to support my efforts you can tip me a coffee here.
A lot of folks have been asking for some sort of product roadmap for ages. I've tried to keep a list of things that have been mentioned in the past but it gets hard monitoring all the different platforms.
This is cool!
If you head over to this page then you'll be able to see what the Evernote team are working on right now and a few peeks into what could be coming in the future.
Right now, under Exploration is information about a new commenting feature that they are looking to bring to shared notes plus improvements to the AI Edit functions.
This is all good stuff. It keeps folks informed about what's going on, is useful and helps build trust.
One very exciting thing about this page is that it gives us the chance to submit and vote on features and the team will be looking at this when they plan future updates.
You can see what I've been voting for!
I think this is a good idea. There are lots of places to ask for new things right now like the official forums, Reddit, here, all the social platforms. Bringing it all into one place makes sense and with the voting options we can see what folks are really wanting.
Have you voted for anything yet? Let me know if the comments.
Drag on mobile
This is a bit of a long-awaited feature and it finally comes on version 10.126.1 for Android and iPhones so keep checking your app store.
You'll be able to long-press on an element in your note like an image or code block and drag it around your note in a very similar way to how it works on the desktop apps.
It’s always been a pain to rearrange content inside a note on mobile so this should make it easier.
A couple of desktop updates worth mentioning
Make sure you're on version 10.126.5+ for these.
You can now use the '/' command inside tables which makes it a lot easier to add the stuff you want.
There's also a + icon next to the Templates link in the sidebar which makes it a little easier to add a new template.
I'm really starting to get used to the new template system and liking it.
Finally, the new attachment sync system is rolling out which also effects tag sync. For most folk attachments should sync twice as fast as before. For large accounts around 10 times faster.
Regarding tags, they should sync up to 3000 times faster so big improvement there.
I've been testing this for a few weeks now and attachment sync does seem much more stable, I never notice any issues.
I'll leave it up to you to tell me about tags as I only have 6!
Subscribers can now create a chat topic
Did you know Taming the Trunk has a chat thing type of forum stuff!?
It does indeed and I switched it on around a year ago to have it as a place where subscribers can ask questions and offer help.
Up to now I've been starting a new thread each month and all the chat has been confined to that chat.
I've just changed the setting so that all subscribers can start their own thread, ask questions and get help on various things.
Hopefully it will help to keep topics confined to their own thread and make the chat a bit more forum like.
Chat is available to all subscribers, is totally free so head over and say hello.
Let’s see how it goes.
And finally...
Everyone who knows me knows that I've always been a Windows person and I may of sniggered in the past at folks with their fancy Mac's and their fancy Latte's in fancy coffee shops.
Well, I have now become one of them. I am fancy!
My Lenovo went poof in the middle of a training session last week which was not helpful so I spent some of my kid’s inheritance on a Mac.
This means I'll hopefully not mess up the Mac keyboard shortcuts in my posts anymore and there may be some Mac screenshots arriving as well.
Have a great weekend
All the best
Jon
Typo alert... I'm sure you meant Public and not Pubic LOL
Hey Jon! I have a question. I want to move an existing notebook into a space, but there's a padlock symbol on my notebook, so apparently I can't move it. I tried everything double-checked my settings, permissions etc. No chance to "un-lock" it. What can I do? Best, Harry
