A huge thank you to all paid subscribers and many thanks also to those who bought me a coffee. Taming the Trunk is 100% reader supported, no ads or commission links and your support is really appreciated.
After the security breach and the way Lastpass handled it, it is not a to be recommended password manager. Better alternative both in terms of security and features next to Bitwarden is 1Password.
I'm with Marco D for the same reason. However we moved to NordPass (and NordVPN) which (so far...) has had no problems and seems to be very careful about their (my!) security.
I keep thinking about a VPN... will have to investigate more in the future. I probably should get one with the amount of travelling I do but I tend to use my phones hotspot instead of ramdom Wifi.
So this is still happening... making it 'easy' to create a new account...
... I say 'odd' as it never happened to me, but then most via a laptop. In my case...
... but mobile phone issues, this one c/o Stacy, always seems to be a great source of info and methods and the naming and limited use of tables, in Evernote, for ino that is designed to be mobile friendly, also makes for more organised notes, even in other apps too.
Its never happened to me... the main reason I think is folks forgetting if they used Google or Apple to sign up, hitting the sign up form and then clicking the Google button which auto signs you up.... new account. Folks don't read the screens.
Thanks for the Stacey link... Stacey knows everything, I learn so much from chats with her and listening to what she produces.
Yes, and I don't even use Evernote anymore. The ideas, processes, and discipline of her content are worth the time, and the little effort needed to tweak other app(s) also makes the time spent in her company worthwhile.
I've been using Evernote since 2010 (most of the time very inefficiently) though over the last few years (thanks to you and a few others I follow; and, of course, the new owners) it's become a lot more integral to my work & personal systems. Question, though: when trying to set up 2FA, my only option is Google Authenticator; I'd prefer to use Zoho Vault (as I've used Zoho CRM for @ the same length of time), but don't see that as an option. How do I set that up?
Thanks. TBH, I've not used Zoho Vault much, either (simpler is better to oldsters), but I do get concerned @ privacy, too, and EN has so much of my stuff (and my clients info) that security is important. Guess I need to familiarize myself w/ Zoho Vault, as I'm totally flummoxed by setting up EN in it and, potentially, restricting myself somehow <sigh>.
It always makes me laugh when people complain to developers that their app has logged them out and they can't remember their login details. Like that's the developer's fault. If you are confident in your password management processes, then a brief logout won't really affect you.
Issue I have with my password manager is that I have too many passwords. So many for apps and services I no longer use or don't exist. I should have a clear out!
When I first started using a password manager, I was transferring all my passwords and discovered so many that had long since passed. Most notable, MySpace and Geocities!

Thanks. Just updated the article to 1Password.

You should be able to use any 2FA app... when you get to the bar code page just scan it with any app.
Also Zoho CRM user for many years.

Vault has a learning curve but once you've used it a few times its fairly straightforward. The browser extension is nice for auto logins.

There's recently been a lot of it happening.
