Evernote’s new floating formatting bar puts bold, italics, colours and more right where you’re working and with a quick click of the three-dot menu you can favourite items.
I like hovering options, but I find the various hovering options sometimes get in the way. Sometimes just by blocking text I need to see. Sometimes I have a hard time clicking on the end of a header to edit it without the header's link button popping up in the way. Sometimes I find the hover options "off-screen" when I'm highlighting a top line. Etc. Still worth them though I think.
A great idea. Unfortunately, I'm red-green color-troubled, and the highlights offered on the floating bar are so light that I can't really tell what they are. Same problem with the top bar, although the colors up top are bolder so I can sort of find a blue or something. It'd be cool if they could add a "hover" function that would identify each color by name. I don't want a page of highlights all in different colors to share with anyone else. I actually like to use highlighting a lot when I write.
Anyone else having a ”fidgety” AI prompts bubble? When hovering over the AI prompts bubble, the window just flickers briefly.
And even if I click the bubble, the window just flickers briefly (most of the time), I have to click and the quickly move the cursor into the AI prompts window before it disappears.
Thanks. The flickering behaviour was on my macOS client. Have tried quitting and restarting, to no avail. Logged in to the web inteface (that I rarely use), same flickering there I’m afraid. Will restart the entire macbook later when I get a chance, if that sorts it.
Good news, flickering gone. Not sure if it was the restart of the computer, or the Evernote update that came in today that made the difference. Glad it works now.
I'm quite liking this floating formatting toolbar. It may only be very fractionally, but it seems to speed up my workflow when editing a note's content by not having to move your mouse so far...
Looking forward to your deep dive on AI prompts. I'm sticking my toe in the water on using the AI features more, so all use case examples will be very helpful to me in recognising how I can use AI in EN productively.
Yes. It’s grown on me. I tend to use the MCP for more complex things, more on Friday about that, and the AI Assistant for more basic processes. All in all its m find it useful.

Yeah. I find the pop ups in the note list a little irritating. Maybe making them a bit smaller.

Same as you. Red green colour blind, we’ll never be fighter pilots!
I think there’s a plan to offer some bolder colours and quite a few folk think they’re a bit too light. Good idea on the hover, I’ll mention it.

I’ll double check when I get back home but can’t remember seeing anything strange. Sometimes a log out and back in again solves things like this.
