Some good changes, but could do with further improvement. I wish they would add a settings option for the default search behavior when you're in a notebook. My preference would be to have EN generally searching everywhere regardless of current location. I have many notebooks under a couple of stacks and tend to jump between notebooks when searching for notes. After opening EN in home, I am typically working from a notebook. I always have to change the default search behavior ever since they introduced it, so for me it wasn't an improvement to begin with. Having this setting option would save me a mouse click and having no interruption in using just the keyboard.
Thanks for the shortcut to bring up search more quickly!
Generally I think search Everywhere is a good default
However, what I'd really like is to be able to use the keyboard (tab, arrow key etc) to be able to easily select different search locations - that would be best of both worlds
(Perhaps there is already an option to do this that I haven't stumbled upon however)
Just off the screen at the bottom of the search box is a spot for filters which shows the recent notebooks so you can switch to them, you can get to these by keying down. I think the plan is to eventually bring more filter to the pop up.
I'm really pleased to see this - it's such a big improvement.
It also seems to have fixed a couple of problems. The first was that in the old search, the note suggestions that popped up as you typed your query had stopped working. Instead of taking you to the suggested note, they just took you to the notebook.
I was having the same issue with internal note links only taking me to the notebook but with the new search, they also seem to be working again, which is handy because I use them a lot. I did raise a ticket about this.
I seem to have a hybrid version for a long time. I have a search box that is about 1/3 the screen wide (covers the opened navigation and notes sidebars, the current notebook is the default (I agree this should be an option), I see all the categories you mention when I start typing, and it uses the new algorithm. I like the 1/3 screen just fine.
What I am not sure is the same, is after I hit enter, the search box goes away, and I see the usual list of note results in the sidebar - the same as you see when you select a folder from the navigation sidebar. I prefer that much more than what I see in this article, where you only get a list of titles (I see that before I hit enter)
That's odd. I think most, if not everyone should have the new search box which is centered in the screen. Try a log out and back in again to see if it arrives.
It should work in a similar way to the old search, you get a list of suggestions and if you click them they go to the note. If you hit enter from the search box itself it performs the full search in the note list like it did before.

As far as I know when it rolls out the default will be to search everywhere.
Its way more keyboard friendly.
ah allright.. that would make a difference!

Yeah I saw the same and the area before was too small to see much information.

Everyone should have it as of this morning (UK/Europe).
If you don't see it log out and on again to try and force the setting.
