AMA 49: Can I import a Word document into Evernote without it becoming an attachment?
A huge thank you to all paid subscribers and many thanks also to those who bought me a coffee. Taming the Trunk is 100% reader supported, no ads or commission links and your support is really appreciated.
This week on Ask Me Anything about Evernote we have a question from Alice.
If you have a question you’d love an answer to then leave it in the comments below and I’ll add it to the list.
Alice asks
Can I import a Word document into Evernote without it becoming an attachment? Right now when I drag it into a note it just attaches. I want the content of the Word doc in the note.
Yes you can.
When you drag a Word document into a note it becomes an attachment. You can open it from the note, edit it, hit save and it saves back to the note just fine.
But it’s only an attachment.
If you want to turn the contents of the Word document into an Evernote note then open up Settings
and head to Import
.
This only works in the desktop or web apps.
You can drag in or upload multiple Word documents at the same time and Evernote will convert each one into a new note in your default folder.
You can then organise them however you want.
If you want a bit more information on this and see some tests then head over to this article I wrote a couple of months ago.
I hope this helps.
Have a great rest of the week
All the best
Jon
