Hi Jon, I'm not big into AI. I only use the EN AI Assistant for odd little things.
But, as always, I enjoy your posts.
I did have a good chuckle though reading your text...
In your Use cases for the AI Assistant under Editing notes, it reads,
"You can put the AI Assistant into Edit Mode and ask it to reformat a note, summarise, check grammar and speeling, translate or turn text into quotes or call-outs."
Maybe you should have used the AI Assistant for spell check LOL.
Here are my main reasons to use MCP via ChatGPT instead of EN's internal AI:
- internal AI is limited in functionality (i.e. cannot insert automatic TOCs)
- internal AI always closes left side bar - have to reopen ;-)
- internal AI comes to a monthly workload limit tooo early
- internal AI sometimes refuses to bulk-work on many notes. I need to give it instructions like "go on..."
- internal AI seems to have problems to handle tasks
- ChatGPT comments its own work precisely - which leads to further ideas to enhance my prompt(s)
- ChatGPT gave me correctly executable Python script of its work for bulk operations
There's only one case in which the internal AI can help:
- ChatGPT does not recognize the "currently open note" (because it works on server data). You have to describe this note by clearly specified it's title or tag(s).
Here are some missing points on both (internal AI and MCP)
- it's impossible to delete reminders
- changing headline styles to "standard" does not work

I do not want to get personal AI limits - internal AI should work like by ChatGPT+ account - up to now with noch limit regarding EN-MCP usage.
Because my internal AI usage is blocked until September, I'll continue only with MCP from outside.
Regarding Tasks: I was told (by ChatGPT) that queries regarding tasks (like "find Tasks with text "Geld" in their title) cannot be executed without shrinking down a Note list (i.e. by using Tags). The only way to find such Tasks seems possible only by opening Notes one-by-one. I advised ChatGPT to do so (based on tagged notes) - but that's a workaround...
Tomorrow I'll post an incident "MCP - search_tasks() returns invalid dates für recurring Tasks (and of deleted Notes)" because my prompt is based on recurring tasks (and fails because of this).

Have a chat with support if you hit the AI limit, they have increased it for some folk.
Internal AI should be able to remove reminders... just tested and works OK. Used "Remove reminder".
I'll mention TOC.
Getting better on bulk stuff but MCP may be better for this.
What issues with tasks? This is something I'm having some success with.

I can ask the question about your limit if you want?
Using the MCP in ChatGPT I asked it to "List all my Evernote tasks with Update in the title."
It worked and gave me a list with due dates. It also included some completed tasks so maybe use "open tasks" within the prompt to keep it clean.

The tasks it give me were recurring but not sure if it can work out was it or isn't a recuring task... I'll test that later.
