A huge thank you to Adrian who became a paid subscriber over the last week and many thanks also to those who bought me a coffee. Taming the Trunk is 100% reader supported, no ads or commission links and your support is really appreciated.
I discovered the math feature when a long decimal mysteriously started appearing after dates within parantheses, e.g. (12/12/25). It took me a while to realize the decimal was the result of treating the date as an arithmetic expression. I had to disable the math function to rid my notes of these fake numbers. I also learned from this that the math is triggered by parentheses, not just equal signs.
The mention links looked interesting initially, but I stay with mostly txt links for now. Text links also offer editing options. Can't really understand why they opted for not including this for mention and preview links.
And oh yes..It would be great if EN could offer the option to have internal links automatically updated after changing a note's title. That could make life more easy.
yes indeed. Title, preview and mention links as well do update now. Really good news when they make that happen for text links too. This has been in request for quite a long time.
Thanks for the information about the maths ability of EN. Unfortunately, there is a major problem: EN cannot calculate decimal places. The calculation function only works with whole numbers.
I tried it again, and now it works fine. Last time it didn`t work. Last issue is, that I have to take the „.“ as an decimal separator. In Germany we use the „,“.
The math calculations when unwanted are another way Evernote's ever-growing features, while welcome on one level, are getting on top of each other. Ever try to put the cursor at the end of the paragragh and trigger the paragraph link instead? Or put the cursor right next to a picture and have the Transcription button appear over the text you're trying to reach?

Yeah. It was a pain with dates. I think (12/12/25) is fixed as I'm not seeing any maths. When the setting is checked it needs an = to do maths.

It should update now is using title and preview. I think text is coming. Will check.

I've just given this a go and it seems to handle decimals just fine
Yes, it seems to be working OK gor me on Android phone. Will check it out on my Windows PC later.
Can you give me an example and I'll check. Just tried 1.5+1.5 and I got 3.

Ah... of course. I'll ask about that.

Yeah. Muscle memory needs changing sometimes with the new features. Quite a bit going on right now. It may calm down a bit after V11 is released.
