A huge thank you to all paid subscribers and many thanks also to those who bought me a coffee. Taming the Trunk is 100% reader supported, no ads or commission links and your support is really appreciated.
IBM went through a 'pile' as have a number of other big corporations... and for the most part, they were still big corporations after the logo change. This isn't a major direction shift or a buyout, etc. so... ... the 'shareholder's' question is why and how much money or time was wasted... which will be deducted from the CEO's benefit package. : ))))))
To me the new design looks sad. No smile anymore, no friendly cheek. Head drops slightly down. A loaded elephant? Graphic shape looks smooth but expression a bit unhappy.
Well, having worked in engineering, software and graphic design for 'way' too long...
"I like this attention to detail." the font choice is 'crap' as serif fonts are in the long term easier to read, hence there are far and few novels published in sans-serif fonts, and even most people's ebook readers return to a serif font...
"I like this attention to detail."... i.e. the eye to the 'e'... an excellent catch though, but what do they do with it, if anything?
The rest of the 'elephant' head logo tweak.. meh, so what... the CEO before last, lost out on his tweak of the elephant head, IIRC, no?
And as said before, "Stacey" is the Evernote user to 'watch' (read, "read closely") and she makes an excellent point on the stability of Evernote in her note; "Should you be worried about Evernote's future?" https://www.harmonenterprises.com/issues/64
... but still not enough to push me back to return to the elephant in the room... I like having my notes as mine... and the responsibility for their backing up, etc., etc.
Be safe, have fun and make notes and use of notes.
I like the new logo. It is "softer".
It is. I quite like the new font as well. Should be available on the latest versions of the app now.
Thanks for pointing out that the eye in the E and the eye in the elephant are aligned. I would never have noticed that.
I’m more interested in en 11 and the implementation of chatvgpt which I use all the time. Hopefully it is similar to mem2,0
I’ve not used mem but I’ll hopefully be able to say more about the EN AI it on Friday.
Good to know we will see
Personally, I prefer the old logo. The ear looks like the corner of an A4 Note & the trunk is a better proportion.
I would also prefer that Evernote was spelt with a capital 'E'. It's a proper noun & the name of a company. #ProperGrammar #IsItJustMe?
Anyway... Surely the "Team" have more pressing work to do than fiddle with a logo ...?
Microsoft etc all do it to. Fiddling with icons & making it all "pretty".
Just make the App work reliably & listen to your (paying) customers.
